Exclusive Hotel

The History

The luxurious hideaway of 62 Castle St is more than just an exclusive hotel situated in the heart of the city centre. This exclusive hotel building is also part of the rich history and ornate architecture of the city, being a Grade II listed building with an interesting past.

Now an exclusive hotel, the structure was originally built in 1868 as a bank, initially for the Alliance bank and later for the North and South Wales Bank. This company moved to this impressive five storey building on the corner of Castle St because their previous premises proved to be too small.

62 Castle St is proud to have been able to become part of this historical place, by bringing elegant touches to the original features, to create a luxurious and exclusive hotel. The building itself is truly stunning, having being designed by the architects Lucy and Littler and featuring opulent carved pilasters, cornices, balustrades, swags and rusticated arches.

Before being transformed into 62 Castle St's exclusive hotel, the building was formerly the Trials Hotel, until 2004 when it was purchased by Centre Island Hotels. The materials of marble and mahogany echo the classic quality of the building and these features have been sympathetically incorporated into the 21st century refurbishment of the building, to create a truly unique and exclusive hotel.
